Looking after Merino Clothes

All Julie Baker garments have care labels attached however, below are the same instructions incase you are wondering how easy they are to maintain in good condition.

Merino

For all merino garments, which includes, Hats, Wraps, Nighties, Bodysuits, Hoodies and Tees, the following is recommended:

  • Machine wool wash using a light detergent like a wool detergent

  • Maybe tumble dried

  • Dry out of direct sunlight

  • warm iron if necessary.

  • DO NOT DRYCLEAN

You need to remember that merino is WOOI so it is recommended that your garment should not be exposed to washing powders and detergents that use an enzyme as the active ingredient, such as a nappy wash. Good old fashion Sunlight soap is best for stain removal.

Wool Blankets

Julie’s wool blankets that have the satin binding need to washed as follows:

  • Use a cool wool wash

  • Pull into shape while damp

  • Dry flat and out of direct sunlight

  • Press into shape with iron on wool setting.

WoolBlend Capes

The capes come in 2 different wool blends and have cotton linings. They should both be treated the same when cleaning. It is important that they either be spot cleaned with a damp cloth or be dry cleaned

Booties

The booties are all made fromNatural NZ lamb skins and need to be treated like wool. Therefore, hand wash using luke warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse well. Dry slowly away from direct heat. Re-shape whilst drying.
